Mid Autumn Festival

DSC_5827Sep08 - mid aut

happy mid autumn festival!

tonight we had our mid autumn moon festival on the playground. earlier in the week i had bought the most ridiculous lanterns for the kids – hello kitty driving a car, hello kitty shaped as a strawberry, transformers, swords…but they all light up and they all play ridiculous music like "it's a small world" "Auf weidersehen" and the like.

the kids also wear glo bands around their necks and wrists and they march around the playground, waving their lanterns and playing. the mock "festival" started at 7.30 and we didn't come upstairs until 8.30. in fact, we would have stayed longer but sela said in tones that brooked no arguement, "i would like to come upstairs now mummy, i am tired". so up we came.

mid autumn moon festival is a fantastic time in hong kong. i am so glad that we celebrate it.

it is still really really hot here in hong kong!!!
