there are approximately five weeks until we leave on holidays.

there are approximately 5,554 details to be taken care of between now and then.

some are semi important: i need to transfer money to the person who generously decided to GIVE us a nebuliser. (i only pay for shipping). i need to find someone to lend us a pack n play for two months. i need that pack and play to end up at my gran’s house in white rock. i need a food processor because as my three youngest have all proven today, if they eat anything that is not ground to the size of my pre-pregnancy bikini…they vomit.

others…eh, what can you do. i have two deadlines in the next week. i’ve done most the primary research, now just the rolling up sleeves and writing.

i am one of those people who gets the big jobs done first. forget the rolling stones, i get HUGE satisfaction from accomplishing a huge job. the problem is, once i get the job done, then i get lulled into a false sense of security, and ignore the 40 niggling, irritating little things that need to be accomplished!!! things on par with ordering new cheques, getting reimbursed for items i bought for the playgroup…stuff like that. i am itching to give the closets a good cleaning (ie: purge), but unless i get my tushie into gear, that may not happen.

the problem is, the babies are unutterably cute at times. and so much fun to be around. i took jay to PT today, and he was adorable. lazy, but adorable. when the physio stood over him and held his fingers and tried to get him to walk, he twisted his neck, looked up at her and raised his legs until they were parallel to the floor.

he should be standing, at least. she told me. standing alone and walking. he should be. she turns her eye to me.

are you too busy at home and not practising walking with him? she said.

sure i do, but you see what happens. i responded.

well, is he cruising around a coffee table.

sure, if he wants to.

you need to do this, she said, rummaged through a box and placed a ball on a table. i looked at my son and although it impeded his development, prayed he would do what i figured he would do. and oh, yes, who’s your mummathe j proceeded to crawl over to the bucket of toys the pt pulled the ball from, and busied himself investigating those, while the ball lolled about disconsolately on top of the table. ha ha ha ha ha! don’t say i need to practise with my kid.

i was so proud of us. we were a little tag team.

and carys is bouncing up and down, up and down, to express her delight. so fun to watch. sela’s all over the place and sebastian is my darling boy. i want to spend more time with them. (although i still hate bottle feeding them. carys has started holding her breath during feeding, right before she vomits…what is with that?)

i suspect it will all sort itself out in the end, after all, my insomnia ought to be able to take care of a few of those issues.

and from the adoption files – day three

not sure how to manage this question: someone interested in adopting the embryos who has seen our pictures asked if we are physically attractive people. they’ve seen the pictures. maybe they look airbrushed? not so…if you look closely you will see the vomit stains on the shoulder of my sweater….

  2. I’m surprised the perspective adoptive parents don’t get photos of you and your husband. I’d think most people would want to know what the biological parents look like as well as knowing family history, ancestory, etc. Not for vain reasons, but just because people like to know what they’re possibly getting.

  3. Cute kids you have…already comedians! Tell those perspective adoptive parents, that you aren’t sure how good looking you guys are, but some chick in maryland has a huge crush on MC…for what it’s worth. Dreamy!!! LOL!

  5. Sounds like your coming to Canada for a visit. I’ll check with a friend in Port Coquitlam, she has all sorts of baby stuff. She might have a pack ‘n go. Anything else you need? Will Sebastion have enough toys to keep him entertained? Do you need a food processer while you are here, or are you looking to buy one for home (Hong Kong) My daughter is a Discovery Toys rep (became one just to get the toys, she plans on opening a daycare one day, and eventually the family thing) so we have lots of good quality toys, that can take the lick’n and keep on tick’n. I work for BC Ferries, so it wouldn’t cost me anything but a visit to the mainland to drop them off. A reason to go shopping at Ikea…
Love the photo that MC has on his blog, would definately say you are both physically attractive… What a strange question to ask, would be more interested to know your family medical history instead!
Has your PT said anything about a merry muscles for the trio? My DD used a jolly jumper, but I had a merry muscles for David. He loved it. Made here in Victoria (Sidney) If you are interested, I can pick up one or two and drop them off at your Gran’s when I go shopping at Ikea… Here’s the webpage: http://www.babyloveproducts.com/merrymuscles.html
Do a list of the 5,554 things you need to do, cross them off as you get them done, assign some to Charles, delete the trivial ones (like cleaning the closets). You’ll be surprised how much you can get done. (sorry, it’s the anal virgo in me, always make lists so you don’t forget)
